Looking for something to do with the kids?  Nothing is better than heading out for a fun family outing….nothing that is than a FREE family outing.  Luckily, here in NJ, we’ve got tons of places and things to do where you can leave your wallet at home.  Here are just some of NJ Kids top picks for Fabulous and Free – plus we’ve added a BONUS fabulous and free idea with every site!

Morristown National Historical Park – Part of the National Park Service, this park commemorates the 1779-1780 Winter encampment of Washington and his troops. BONUS:  Kids get a free history lesson without realizing it (because they are having so much fun!) PLUS miles of trails and scenic picnic areas.

Princeton Battlefield – This is the site of the January 3, 1779 battle, considered to be fiercest fight of war.  BONUS:  Combine a visit to the battlefield with an afternoon at the Princeton Art Museum (also free!)

Drumthwacket – The official residence of the NJ Governor.  BONUS:  Make a day of it in Princeton – also visit the Princeton Battlefield and/or Princeton Art Museum

Washington State Crossing Park - Free on weekends.  Stand on the banks of the Delaware River and see where George Washington made his historical crossing on December 25, 1776.  BONUS: There is also a visitor Center, the Johnson House, nature trails and Observatory. In December, costumed volunteers re-enact the crossing.

Independence Hall and Liberty Bell, Philadelphia – Experience history in Philadelphia.  Enter the halls where the Declaration was signed and see the famous cracked bell.  BONUS:  Enjoy a walk along the waterfront at Penn’s Landing – they have a variety of concerts during the summer.

Federal Reserve Bank - The Federal Reserve Bank of NYC is one of 12 Federal Reserve Banks throughout the United States and plays a vital role in the safety, soundness and vitality of America’s economic and financial systems.
