The Newark Museum is the state's largest museum. It holds fine collections of American art, decorative arts, contemporary art, and Arts of Asia, Africa, the Americas, and the ancient world. Coming in March Rajas, Wrestlers & Renuciants  Portraits from Asia features Bejeweled Indian princes, muscled Japanese sumo wrestlers, stately Chinese and Korean scholars and shaven-headed Tibetan, Japanese, Korean and Philippine monks. These are just a few of the kinds of portraits highlighted in the latest thematic rotation located within the Newark Museum’s twenty permanent galleries devoted to the arts of Asia.  More than thirty works, many never before placed on view.

Enjoy a trip to outer space at the Robert J. NovinsPlanetarium in Toms River.   The planetarium dome is a virtual 3-D video space, no longer restricted to simply an earthbound view of the sky.  They can take you on a journey from the smallest size scales to the edge of the universe.   Head to their family friendly pajama night show and get ready for some fun!  Visit the planets and hear stories about the characters that can be found in the night sky. They may even have time for music and dancing...Maybe even laser! 

Bring your family and explore the world of the Jersey Shore at the Tuckerton Seaport. They are located along the Tuckerton Creek, at exit 58 on the Garden State Parkway, 30 miles north of Atlantic City. 

Experience the rich traditions of the Jersey Shore and its baymen through the Seaport’s recreated and historic buildings, demonstrations, interpretive exhibits, events, festivals, live aquatic displays and more.

Identify birds and plants on their nature trail through their Maritime forest. Enjoy a leisurely meal at an affordable, family restaurant, ScoJo’s. Discover the Jersey Shore’s unique maritime heritage and the interaction between culture and nature on the Barnegat Bay.   

Enjoy the thrill of a live performance at Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank.    From Frozen Sing A Longs (Mar 7) to a performance of Harold and the Purple Crayon (Apr 22), they bring books, music, and stories to life.   They have a wide variety of musical performances coming from Irish music like Celtic Thunder (Apr 2) to ‘No Shush’ the Count Basie Theatre and the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra’s new family-friendly series designed for children age 3-12, Coming on Feb 28 hear classical music with all the chatter, questions, dancing and moving around desired. Hear the NJSO perform kid-friendly music from Tchaikovsky, Bernstein and even “Harry’s Wondrous World” from Harry Potter, plus a pre-show ‘Instrument Petting Zoo’ and arts activities beginning at 3PM in the lobby. Concert starts at 4pm sharp.

Let your kids get down and dirty at Diggerland in West Berlin.   Kids can learn to operate a real digger! Weighing in at a whopping 7,092 pounds, and with a powerful 26.8hp engine, kids can dig until their hearts are content.  Test your skills in Dippy Ducks, as you snatch floating ducks from a pond with a JCB mini-excavator.  Other features include a variety of construction vehicles you can drive, high ropes course, rock wall, kids play area, mini Land Rovers, and so much more.  Take a Backhoe Adventure when you, 3 friends, and a Ride Marshal climb inside the cab and take turns behind the wheel of a real backhoe!
