La Festa Italiana in Jersey City
La Festa Italiana - Jersey City began in 1902 as a street festival in honor of Our Lady of the Assumption (August 15) & St. Rocco (August 16), both days of which were venerated by thousands of parishioners at Holy Rosary Church, the first Italian Parish in the State of New Jersey. Today, the festival continues to draw thousands of people from all across the county as they make their annual trip back to their home parish. It has become one of the most sought annual events in Jersey City. The ever changing demographics of Jersey City has helped not only the festival grow but the church as well.
