Why Art?

Dedicating time to developing creativity and practicing a craft is important for the well-being of both children and adults.

"'For so many people, when they hit their 40s, probably the most important thing is the inner desire to better themselves...I stopped to focus on my needs. And it does not feel like a selfish pursuit....It feels like a communal activity.'"

"'Children need to know more about the world than just what they can learn through text and numbers. Art education teaches students how to interpret, criticize, and use visual information, and how to make choices based on it.'"

We may be preaching to the choir here, but we thought even our most committed art students would be interested to read these articles from the  Public Broadcasting Station  and  The New York Times about why art education is beneficial for children and for adults.

It is important to make time for art.  Pencil it in for this Fall, today!
