Being a parent is difficult. But luckily, technology is on our side. With so many high-tech gadgets to choose from, it can be hard to decide what's best or most useful. Here are five gadgets that should make parenting a (little) easier.

Boon GLO Nightlight

These are some of the coolest, kid-friendly lights we’ve seen. The Boon nightlight has portable bulbs that stay illuminated for up to 30 minutes after they have been removed from their base. They change colors and do not get warm, allowing kids to take them into bed with them. It’s a light they can cuddle with. The Boon is great for all ages and will make bedtime less stressful. You may even want to include these mood lights in your bedroom or bathroom to help soothe your mind after a long day of parenting.

Lenovo Yoga Series

Laptop/tablet combos (aka 2-in-1s) are a sizzling hot item right now because of the many different functions they can perform, and the fact that you no longer need to carry both devices with you. Lenovo Yoga series laptops are touchscreen and have many features that make them great for parents and kids. The Yogas all have the ability to function in four different modes — laptop, stand, tent and tablet — so it is easy for parents to set their kids up with a little Mickey Mouse Club wherever they are. A happy kid is a quiet kid. We think the Yoga will make both of you happy.

TempTraq Wearable Thermometer

Caring for a sick child throughout the night can be taxing. The TempTraq can help. This single-use, wearable thermometer tracks and records your child’s temperature for 24-hours so you won't have to continually move your child to take her temp. It can measure temperatures between 87.0 and 109.3°F and will send alerts to your smartphone.

Nest Cam

The Nest Cam is a baby monitor with perks. Its features include night vision, wide-angle view, remote zoom capabilities, the ability to watch live streaming from your smartphone or 2-in-1, as well as receive activity alerts. And, the best part, it can be used well after your wee one has outgrown a baby monitor since the Nest Cam is a standalone home security camera that can be placed anywhere in your home. Keep an eye on older children who are home alone.

PocketFinder GPS Child Tracker

Kids are sneaky. And fast. You turn your back for two seconds and they are gone. This gadget is plug and play, and uses GSM cellular (quad band) as well as GPS to keep dibs on your child’s whereabouts. Parents get notifications on their smartphones if their child goes out of the “zone.” While the PocketFinder shouldn’t replace vigilant parenting or give parents the option to let their kids wander off, it does provide an added piece of mind that if your kids slip away, you’ll be able to locate them fast.
