Bilingual education, smaller class size, door-to-door, K-6th grade (and growing to 8th grade), flexible in-school or remote learning while adhering to strict socially distanced protocols are some of the key offerings at HudsonWay Immersion School.
HudsonWay Immersion School offers Socially Distanced K-6 Education
For the 2020-2021 academic year, HudsonWay Immersion School is offering a choice of either on-site 5 full days per week or remote learning in a safe, nurturing environment at both their NJ and NY campus locations. As a smaller school in a facility that can normally accommodate twice as many students, they are able to safely social distance at 6 feet and provide advantages in managing the safety of our students.
In their PreK - Kindergarten program, young children ages 2 ½ - 5 develop all the early childhood development skills such as fine and gross motor skill development, social-emotional skills, literacy and cognitive development in a traditional program - but they learn them in two languages! Children develop in English and either Mandarin Chinese or Spanish. Studies show that children who develop bilingual skills early become better students, have better focus and understanding of other cultures.
Their elementary program builds on the strong foundation of their preschool. Students learn all the core subjects in two languages. Elementary students without previous language exposure are able to become bilingual after one year! Elementary students benefit from small class sizes and flexible grouping to accelerate learning. Students outperform independent school norms on the ERB assessed in English while achieving high bilingual proficiency. 90% of graduates are accepted to their first-choice independent school.
Beginning September 2020, HudsonWay Immersion School will be extending their program with Grade 6 and adding a grade each year through Grade 8 in 2022. They will be accepting incoming 6th graders without prior language experience on a new track called the Accelerated Language Track which will prepare students for advanced language courses in high school leading to a Global Seal of Biliteracy. Door to door transportation and financial aid options available. Virtual after school classes 2 and 4 days per week are also available for students age 4-12.
Safety and Health Protocols
Here are some of the ways in which they are preparing for a safe return.
Health & Safety – They have developed a protocol which will include daily temperature checks with a touchless sensor, shoe sanitation mats, face shields and masks for students and staff. Schedule and access –access to the building will be for students and staff only. They will stagger drop off and pick up times.
Disinfecting & Cleaning – classrooms will be cleaned and disinfected throughout the day. Their cleaning staff are being ISSA (International Sanitary Supply Association) certified. They will be using electrostatic sprayers and HEPA filters in each classroom.
Teaching and Learning - students will stay in pods minimizing contact outside this group, will have separate supplies, and may take class outside whenever possible. Students working remotely will be visible to the entire classroom and will be able to follow the activities in the classroom using 360 camera technology.
Enroll in preschool and elementary school. There are limited Openings for Fall 2020-2021.
