Fall is filled with opportunities for good food and fun. As apples come in to season there are so many delicious ways to enjoy this healthy fruit. We’ve compiled a list of fun events going on throughout the season designed to whet your appetite for food and fun for the whole family.
Riamede Farms - Pick Your Open Apples
Sept – Oct
Open for apple picking, features 34 varieties of apples ranging from traditional classics to heirloom specialties to modern favorites. Hayrides are available to the orchard and, in October, out to the pumpkin patch. Hayrides through our orchard and, in October, out to the pumpkin patch are free on weekends and Columbus Day! Our hay wagon rides circle the orchard continuously all day on the weekend.
Apple Fest at Delicious Orchards
Sept 10 - 11
Each year, their Apple Fest event gets bigger and bigger! Enjoy a full antique car display (over 40 cars ranging back to the early 1900’s), fun games, local vendors offering delicious product samplings, farm animals, a clown, live music, and of course plenty of apple options including more than a dozen varieties, Delicious Orchards’ famous apple cider, seasonal apple ice cream, apple flavored cotton candy and made on site apple fritters are really delicious.
Apple Crunchin’ Weekends at Oasis Family Farm
Sept 10, 11, 17 & 18
Local apples for sale, Solebury Orchards cider, apple sauce, apple cider donuts, Fresh baked apple & apple carmel pies, apple caramel loaf breads, homemade apple pie ice cream, caramel and candy apples, apple butter & apple jelly and even an apple pie eating contest. Free game activities for the kids
Sept 11, 18, 25 and Oct 2, 9, 23,30
Experience the taste of fresh crisp apple cider! Participants will use an apple press, help to make cider, and learn about the history of apple cultivation and cider making. Tenafly Nature Center will provide the apples, but more apples mean more cider! Help us out by bringing three or more apples per person.
41st Annual Apple Day at Terhune Orchards
Sept 17 – 18
Join them for two days of fun, activities, and music for the harvest season. Dance to the Daisy Jug Band, playing both Saturday and Sunday. Bring your appetite! The “Everything Apple” buffet will include fresh apple pies, apple cider donuts, apple salad, apple muffins, and lots of other apple goodies and, of course, traditional fare of hot dogs, soup, chicken, pies, cider and more. They will also have farm tractor wagon rides and horse-drawn wagon rides, pony rides, and pumpkin painting.
New Jersey Apple Festival at Happy Day Farm
Sept 17 – 18 and 24 – 25
Enjoy live music, caricatures, fun and games not to mention apples! Enjoy apple cider donuts, fresh apple cider, apple slushes, fresh baked apple pies and even a variety of apples to take home. You can even meet and take a picture with the apple princess.
Apple Festival at Dearborn Market
Sept 24- 25
Enjoy freshly picked apples, apple cidars, apples baked goods. Kids will enjoy free live entertainment along with face painting and petting zoo.
Harvest Home Festival at Historic Longstreet Farm (Inside Holmdel Park)
An old-fashioned country fair reminiscent of the 1890s. It takes visitors back in time when neighbors gathered to accomplish work, harvest, and spend time socializing and enjoying each other’s company. Experience old-fashioned fun as it was a century ago with wagon rides, games and live entertainment. See craft demonstrations that will inspire you to start a new hobby or career. Enter one of many competitions ranging from needlework, baked goods to homegrown vegetables.
Annual Apple Festival at Kirby's Mill

Apple Festival at Peddler’s Village
