There are many great parks and playgrounds waiting to be discovered in Bergen County NJ. Bring the family out and go enjoy some of these wonderful parks, all with plenty of amenities.

Overpeck County Park

Leonia, Palisades Park, Ridgefield Park, Teaneck, NJ.
Overpeck County Park is the largest park in Bergen County. 805 acres includes five recreational areas located across four towns.

  • Palisades Park Sportsplex, Roosevelt St, Palisades Park, NJ.

    This is the place to go for all athletic events in the county. The Sportsplex has a football stadium, soccer stadium, athletic fields, challenger baseball league, NCAA, little league, softball. It also has an ADA accessible playground and running track. Unique to most sporting complexes, Palisades Park also has areas for shot-put, discus, long jump and model boating.

  • Ridgefield Park Area, 40 Fort Lee Rd, Leonia, NJ.

    This area has everything from sports to boating to entertainment. Visitors can go canoeing and kayaking or enjoy the water from the dock. A 40 acre open field is near softball, baseball, soccer and tennis courts and fields. The children’s playground is large and fun for all ages. Ridgefield Park also has concession areas and a bike path. The amphitheater is home to many outdoor events throughout the year.

  • Henry Hoebel Area, Fort Lee Rd, Leonia, NJ.

    Henry Hoebel Area is best known for its dinosaur park which opened in 2016. At up to 90 feet tall, the dinosaurs move and make noises. It is wheelchair accessible and the park hosts events, photos with dinosaurs and more. Admission is $15 for all ages over 2 years old. Henry Hoebel Area also has a popular dog park. There are separate areas for large and small dogs. Make sure to bring your own water as the park has bowls but no fountain. There are also various toys in both sections. The area also has tennis, basketball and volleyball courts, a fitness center, running track and other athletic fields. Visitors can enjoy the playground, have a picnic, go fishing or walk the nature trails.

  • World Trade Center Memorial, Leonia, NJ.

    The Memorial honors the 147 Bergen County residents that died in the 9/11 attacks.

  • Bergen County Equestrian Center, 40 Fort Lee Rd, Leonia, NJ. 201.336.3370.

    This 25 acre equestrian center is open Tuesdays through Sundays and is home to 75 horses. There are 2 outdoor riding rings, 2 indoor riding rings, air-conditioned tack rooms and a lounge. The Center offers riding lessons, boarding, training, camps, equine therapy and workshops.

  • Teaneck Creek Conservatory, 20 Puffin Way, Teaneck, NJ.

    The Teaneck Conservatory is filled with beautiful, natural and historic trails. They host many educational workshops, festivals and more throughout the year.

Riverside County Park

Lyndhurst and North Arlington, NJ.
Riverside County Park is made up of 85 acres and has three separate areas.

  • Joseph Carucci Area, River Rd, Lyndhurst, NJ.

    This area has a walking path right along the Passaic River. The dog park is separated into two areas for small and large dogs. The area also has many athletic fields such as a fitness center, tennis courts, baseball fields and a bocce ball court. Visitors can picnic and take children to the playground.

  • North Arlington Area, River Rd, North Arlington, NJ.

    Located south of Joseph Carucci Area, this park has a football field, baseball fields, tennis courts and a walking path along the Passaic River. There is a playground with a gazebo nearby and ample parking on all sides of the park.

  • Passaic River Rowing Association, North Arlington, NJ.

    The Passaic River Rowing Assocation is a non-profit rowing organization. It offers lessons and programs throughout fall, spring and summer.

Saddle River County Park

Fair Lawn, Glen Rock, Paramus, Ridgewood, Rochelle Park, Saddle Brook, NJ.
The Saddle River County Park is a 577 acre park with five park areas linked together by a multi-use path.

  • Rochelle Park Area, Railroad Ave, Rochelle Park, NJ.

    This area is home to the Rochelle Park Swim Club as well as basketball courts and tennis courts. It is located along the Saddle River and visitors can take a walk along the Pathway.

  • Otto C. Pehle Area, Saddle River Rd, Saddle Brook, NJ.

    Otto C. Pehle Area is a popular place for fishing and boating along the lake. A large loop surrounds the lake for walking or jogging. The large playground has many play structures for outdoor fun. There are two ball fields and an open field. Enjoy a picnic at the pavilion or just a nice day outside by the lake.

  • Dunkerhook Area, Paramus and Dunkerhook Rd, Fair Lawn, NJ.

    The Dunkerhook Area has a playground and large picnic area. It also has a bike path and walking pathway. This area is comprised of mostly wooded area and is next to the Saddle River.

  • Glen Rock Area, Prospect Ave, Glen Rock, NJ.

    This area also has walking pathways and a bike path. A large pond is located in the middle of the area where visitors can fish, ice skate or enjoy model boating. Tennis courts, a playground and picnic areas are also available for use.

  • Wild Duck Pond Area, Ridgewood Ave, Ridgewood, NJ.

    The Wild Duck Pond Area has a large pond that can be used for fishing or model boating. A bike path and walking pathway are located in the park as well. The park features a small dog park and accessible playground.

Van Saun County Park

216 Forest Ave, Paramus, NJ.
This park has one of the largest playgrounds in Bergen County. There are four different structures and multiple age play areas at the inclusive playground. A sprayground is a popular place to take children in the summer. The entire park is 146 acres and includes a picnic area, tennis courts, baseball fields, soccer field, dog park, walking path and an open field. Located next to the Bergen County Zoo, this park has its own mini zoo complete with a carousel and children’s train.

Votee Park

1097-1235 Palisade Ave Teaneck, NJ.
This park in Teaneck has a large enclosed inclusive playground designed for children ages 2 to 12 years old. It is wheelchair accessible with supportive swings, hanging bars, slides and more. The park also has an in ground swimming pool and children’s wading pool for summer fun. The Teaneck Sportsplex is home to a football field, soccer field, baseball fields, basketball courts and tennis courts.

There are 2 paved walking paths in the park, a 1.1 mile track and a 1/3 mile track. The amphitheater features many events and concerts throughout the year.
