In the Footsteps of Abbott- A Marshlands Birthday Party!
Join us for a day of fun and educational activities for the whole family celebrating the birthday of Charles Conrad Abbott and his connection to the Abbott Marshlands. No registration necessary, this is a free community event!
Scheduled Events:
1:15- 2:00 pm: Enjoy interpretive readings by entertainer Righteous Jolly directly from Abbott’s ramblings in the marshlands and his encounters with wildlife.
2:15 – 2:45 pm: Raffle drawing! Fun activities! Ice cream and cake! It is a birthday celebration after all.
3:00- 3:45 pm: Walk to the bluffs near Abbott’s homestead site.
Throughout the afternoon:
Activity Tables including a Nature Wheel and Stone Tool Replicas from long ago.
Crafts for kids of all ages and a photo booth.
Abbott's first edition books, writings, and photos of the area from over 100 years ago.
Tour the Watson House, the oldest home in Mercer County.
