Bicentennial Park

Bicentennial Park is home to many athletic fields. There are areas for baseball, football, soccer, basketball, tennis, handball and volleyball. Located near Farrington Lake, visitors can go boating and fishing. There is also a picnic area, playground and tot lot.

Boyd Park

This 20 acre award winning park is right on the Raritan River. Many festivals and special events are held here throughout the year. Not only is there fishing on the River but there is also a playground, boat launch and trails for walkers, bikers and joggers.

Buccleuch Park

This park is home to a former Colonial Estate called the Buccleuch Mansion. The park also includes baseball/softball fields, tennis courts, soccer fields, cricket courts, basketball courts and a 1.5 mile trail. There is also is a playground, rock garden, flower garden a picnic area.

Cheesequake State Park

This park features an Interpretive Center as well as five trails for hiking or biking. The Center includes education about local habitats and information on the Native American early colonization of the area. There are also over 50 tents and trailers sites for camping. Visitors can also go boating, canoeing or fishing.

Donaldson Park

Donaldson Park is famous for its boat ramp and dog park. Facilities offered here include tennis courts, basketball courts, baseball fields, softball fields, soccer fields, picnic groves and playgrounds.

Ford Park

This park is small but full of fun activities. A scenic pond is located in the park where visitors can go fishing or just relax. There is also street hockey rinks, tennis courts, basketball courts, baseball field, picnic grove, walkway and playgrounds.

Johnson Park

This 473 acre park is located on banks of Raritan River. The park features picnic groves, an animal haven and a restored 18th century village. The East Jersey Old Town Village has restored homes and merchant buildings that are used as educational model about the area’s past. Facilities include tennis courts, baseball field, softball fields, soccer field, ponds, cricket pitches, walkway and playgrounds.

Merrill Park

Located on the South Branch of the Rahway River, this park is 179 acres and very popular among area residents. Facilites include tennis courts, basketball courts, baseball/softball fields, soccer field, football field, picnic groves, four playgrounds and an animal haven. The animal haven features a wide variety of farm animals in fenced in areas.

Old Bridge Waterfront Park

Visitors can visit Old Bridge Waterfront Park at three different locations near the Raritan Bay. Paul’s Beach offers a 1.3 mile boardwalk, a comfort station and fishing pier. Laurence Harbor has a boardwalk, playground, fishing pier and walking paths. Pirate’s Cove at Cliffwood Beach has a boardwalk to leads out to the salt marsh. There is kayak access, a playground and walking paths.

Raritan Bay Waterfront Park

The Waterfront Park is right on the banks of the Raritan Bay. It is a nautically themed park with baseball/softball fields, soccer field, football field, bocce courts, playground, walkway and nature study area. There is also a “Victims of Terrorism” memorial that is dedicated to all victims of terrorist acts. New York can be seen from the park.

Roosevelt Park

This park is the oldest in the county and is made to be similar to New York City’s Central Park. The centerpiece of the park is its eight acre lake. Visitors can go fishing or take a walk or jog around the lake. There is also a Veterans Memorial monument and a fountain sculpture. The park also features a family skating rink, tennis courts, basketball courts, playing fields, picnic grove, playgrounds and more.

Spring Lake Park

This 121 acre park overlooks the Five Acre Lake. Facilities include tennis courts, basketball courts, playground, walkways, performance gazebo and fishing.

Thomas Edison Park

This park is Middlesex County’s main sports complex and is next to Middlesex County College. The complex includes tennis courts, baseball/softball fields, soccer fields, track, model airplane field and running paths. Visitors are able to get a flying field permit.

Thompson Park

The largest park in Middlesex County, Thompson Park is 675 acres and features the Manalapan Lake. Visitors can use the lake for canoeing, kayaking or fishing on small boats. There is an animal haven and a dog park. Facilities include tennis courts, basketball courts, handball courts, baseball fields, softball field, soccer field, volleyball area, picnic groves, playgrounds, trails and a disc golf course.

William Warren Park
