CENTRAL & SOUTH JERSEY PLAYGROUNDS
Accessible playgrounds are meant for everyone - young and old - to have fun, interact and experience the freedom of learning and play. Playgrounds will cater to people of all ages with sensory, physical and psychological needs. Here is a list of wonderful playgrounds with universal access, some with ground-level play features, ramped play equipment, as well as other accessible equipment. Although not all are classified as Playgrounds for All, the ongoing programs to comply with access requirements and safety standards will soon lead to more friendly playgrounds. Tony’s Place Playground
221 Ocean Ave. N, Long Branch (Monmouth County) Seven Presidents Oceanfront Park Seaside-themed playground is for All Ages and Abilities. This wheelchair friendly playground where everyone can laugh, play, grow and learn while climbing, rolling or pulling themselves through or along ramps, tubes, and other specially designed play apparatus. Includes elevated surfaces, Braille signs for the visually impaired, and areas where children of varied abilities can play together in fun and stimulating activities.
Challenger Place, A Playground For Children Of All Abilities
Dorbrook Recreation Area, 209 Rt. 537E, Colts Neck (Monmouth County) A Playground for Children of All Abilities with universally accessible play facility including elevated surfaces, Braille signs and three play structures with areas where children of varied abilities can play together. Opened in 2004, it was the first universally integrated playground in NJ. Adjacent is the “Spray and Play” is an offering for camps and other groups serving individuals with disabilities. Marlton Memorial Park & Sports Complex (Burlington County)
1040 Tuckerton Road, Marlton This park has a treasure island theme complete with a pirate ship to climb through and a map to find treasure. The park is handicapped-accessible and has two-story-high tube slides, a rock-climbing wall, spinners, swings and more. Sports complex next door.
Ann Van Middlesworth Park’s Universal Playground (Somerset County)
7 Pleasant View Rd, Hillsborough Twnshp The Universal playground built in 2011 includes handicap-accessible ramps, several sets of monkey bars, tubes, swings and wheelchair-accessible picnic table. The park also features a beautiful sensory garden, softball and baseball fields, a skate park, hiking trails, a picnic grove equipped with grills and tabled, covered pavilion, horseshoe pit, a fishing lake with floating pier, a picnic grove equipped with grills, covered pavilion, and heated in bathrooms.

South Jersey Field Of Dreams And Accessible Playground

Jake’s Place – A Boundless Playground (Camden County)
Challenge Grove Park, Cherry Hill A Boundless Playground, first one in South Jersey, providing all equal play. The ramps are strong enough and wide enough to accommodate disabled adults so that they too can play with their kids. All equipment has ramps. The slides have enough room at the top to transfer children from a wheelchair. Lower monkey bars and rock-climbing walls that most kids can climb, and the Sway-Fun, built so two to three kids in a wheelchair can use it.
Center For Lifetime Learning Accessible Playground (Middlesex County)
Located on Cheesequake Road, Sayreville. The Center for Lifelong Learning is an 89,000-square-foot special education school that has an accessible playground that is open to the public during non-school hours.
